Facelift

Cosmetic Surgical Procedure

Facial aging and sagging can be due to age, sun exposure, smoking and genetics. Facial changes such as skin looseness, jowls, heavy neck with prominent bands and deepening of the normal creases of the face can occur. Skin looseness, excessive fat and loss of volume all cause these problems.

Should I Consider A Facelift?

As mentioned, generalized loose skin, jowls neck heaviness with bands in the neck and a general appearance of tiredness are all reasons for facial rejuvenation. Age is not absolute, especially if you are healthy. People have facelifts and particularly neck lifts from the late 30's into their 90's.

Consultation

Your personal goals will be discussed along with your anatomy. A plan will be created for your rejuvenation

Types of Facelift

Mini facelift. This is for moderate signs of aging in the mid and lower face.

Neck lift. For the younger patient with a full neck and loose neck skin and good facial tone, this is a good alternative. This limited procedure produces a natural, youthful appearance to the neck.

Lower Facelift. For the patient with a loose, full neck and mid to lower facial aging, a lower lift improves these areas.

Full Facelift. This is for the patient with a full and loose neck and facial aging up to the lateral (outside) eyebrow. This procedure corrects more advanced facial aging.

Anesthesia

These all require local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia and are performed at the surgical center or outpatient at the hospital if you desire.

Are There Scars?

The incisions are placed out of view or in naturally occurring skin creases. With avoidance of sun exposure for several months, fine technique and recommended skin care they heal imperceptibly.

Recovery

A bulky dressing and rubber drains are removed at 48 hours, at which point you can shower and shampoo. With new techniques, pain and swelling are minimized. You will be ready for most social interactions at about two weeks but need to avoid strenuous exercise for about a month.
